Parkersburg Christian Church (in southern Montgomery County) will be celebrating their 150th Anniversary the weekend of August 9, 10, and 11. On Friday evening at 7 p.m., there will be a celebration of music with specials by Rusty and Sallie Hester, the Hetrick family, and the PCC choir. Hal Marshall will be playing the piano and there will be a special message given by former PCC pastor Mark Wager.
The celebration will continue with the annual church picnic on Saturday, the 10th, at Clodfelter’s Pond (Fincastle), at noon. Hot dogs, buns, drinks, and tableware will be furnished. Everyone attending should bring a side dish and lawn chair. Swimming and fishing will be available!
On Sunday, the 11th, former pastor Ron Hanson from Minnesota will be giving the morning message. Worship begins at 10 a.m. with music specials by the Cloncs family and Vania Long Starr. Bernice Stewart Wilson will be playing the piano. There will be a pitch-in dinner immediately following worship services with everyone encouraged to bring a favorite dish.
A lot of history, memories, and special people have passed through Parkersburg Christian Church. The history began with land being deeded to the trustees by Joseph and Elizabeth J. Grimes on July 2, 1869, and continues on today with Pastor Rich Fuller and his wife, Dodie. Save the date, come share memories, and plan to celebrate with members and former members of PCC!
