The Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau, JUMP program received a grant from the Vectren Foundation to help provide its biggest group event of the summer! The JUMP program, which is very similar to the Big Brother/Big Sister program, provides one on one mentoring relationships between its adult volunteers and the children in the program. In addition, the JUMP program provides one group activity per month for the mentors and mentees to attend at no cost to them! Because the Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau is a non-profit agency, getting grant money from businesses such as the Vectren Foundation is so helpful in allowing them to continue to offer quality services to the youth of our community.
Jill Hampton, JUMP Program manager stated, “The grant we received from the Vectren Foundation will allow our JUMP group to take a trip to Prophetstown State Park for its Family Fun Day in June. This includes transportation, park entrance fee, a lunch and a few hours in the water park. In addition to the events already going on at the park, the JUMP members plan to take an educational tour of the farm and do some hiking on the trails.” Hampton also stated, “Many of the kids in the JUMP program do not get to go on outings during the summer so we try to plan an event that allows them to learn about new things and have fun at the same time! Thank you, Vectren Foundation, for helping make this possible!”
If you would like to become a mentor in the JUMP program, please contact Jill Hampton at 362-0694 ext. 103 or e-mail jill@mcysb.org.
