Crawfordsville Fire Department Chief Fire Inspector Brian Bechtel has announced the winners of the annual Fire Drill Competition for the North Montgomery School District.

The winner this year was Lester B. Sommer Elementary. This marks the second year in a row the school won the competition.

In an assembly Friday afternoon, Betchtel presented the traveling trophy to Sommer Principal Suzi Gephart and Student Council Co-Presidents Ben Cody and Madi Welch.

In addition to the traveling trophy, Sommer was awarded a check for $200 check from the Crawfordsville Professional Firefighters Local Union 4143. At the assembly, Gephart announced the school would donate that check to the Waynetown Volunteer Fire Department for the work they do with the school.

The Fire Drill competition is conducted annually during the month of October as part of national Fire Prevention Month activities.
