Jerry Lewis Humphreys, 89 of Waveland, passed away April 12, 2019 at Life’s Journey of Avon.
He was born on Oct. 30, 1929 in Parke County to the late Carl and Ferris (Heslar) Humphreys.
After graduating from Green Township High school, Mr. Humphreys went and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a grain and livestock farmer most of his life. He was a member of Portland Mills Church, Alamo Masonic Lodge, Cushman Club, IWCS Woodworkers, Parke & Vermillion County Antique Tractor Club. His hobbies include woodworking, snowmobiling, guns, and riding his scooters. He married Grace M. (Gibbs) Humphreys on Dec. 4, 1949 in Milligan, Ind. She passed away on October 6, 2013.
Survivors include his children, Rodney Lewis (Diane) Humphreys of Rockville and Rita Ann (Greg) Humphreys-Stultz and Rockville; grandchildren, Abe (Ginnie) Humphreys, Ross (Micah) Humphreys, Brianne (Dave) Walters, Tiffany Kelly, Josh (Amanda) Stultz, and Brandon Everson; Thirteen great-grandchildren; special friend, Jeanetta Starr of Waveland; siblings, Phil (Joyce) Humphreys and Fred (Sally) Humphreys; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Grace M. (Gibbs) Humphreys.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17 at Portland Mille Church in Rockville with the Rev. Sam Link officiating. Burial will follow at Portland Mills Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home in Waveland.
