John H. Isaacs, 95, Rockville, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Wabash Valley Hospice Center, Union Hospital, in Terre Haute.
Mr. Isaacs was born on Dec. 16, 1922 in Crawfordsville to the late William and Helen [Kelso] Isaacs.
John graduated from Marshall High School in 1940 and then from Purdue University in 1946 where he played the French horn in the Purdue Marching Band. On Dec. 26, 1947 in Kokomo he married Ruth [Lindley] Isaacs; she preceded him in death May 25, 2010. He was an Agriculture Teacher, teaching at Tangier, Waveland, and Southmont. After his retirement, he began running the family farm. He loved animals, especially birds. He also loved flowers, and watching the farm crops grow. He and Ruth traveled the world and always enjoyed telling about their experiences. He was a member of Tangier Friends Church, Montgomery County Retired Teachers, and Purdue Alumni Association.
Survivors include his brother, Gerald (Phyllis) Isaacs of Gainesville, Fla.; nephews, David and Donald Isaacs; nieces, Susan Dippon, and Linda Isaacs; caregivers, Doug Heineman, Laura Hafner, and Raymond Sutherland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son, John Carl Isaacs, and son, William Allan Isaacs.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 East Green Street, Waveland, Indiana 47989 with Pastor David Finch officiating. Friends and family may pay their respects at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will follow in Rush Creek Cemetery.
