Mark S. Powell, 65, of Crawfordsville was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Wednesday surrounded by his loved ones.
Born Feb. 26, 1954 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Harold Powell and Sharon Scott Powell Harvey. He graduated from Southmont, class of 1973.
Mr. Powell worked at R.R. Donnelley for several years and then drove a truck for Millis Freight, retiring in 2012. He also assisted several local farmers with driving farming equipment. He loved sports, especially the ones involving his grandkids. He also enjoyed the outdoors with activities like fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting.
Survivors include mother and step-father Sharon and Owen Harvey; children Brandy (Elliot) Franklin, Jeremy (Cara) Powell, and Chad Powell; grandchildren Madison, Natalie, Sophia, Hunter, Elliana, and Baine; brother Terry (Lisa) Powell; nephews; nieces; lifelong friends John Roberts and Randy Francis; companion Karen Mitchell; and his neighbor and friend Ed Gargon.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue. Nephew Shane Powell will be officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Freedom Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mark Powell’s name to the donator’s charity of choice.
