Robert Foster Williamson, 92, passed Sept 10, 2019 at Whitlock Place.
He was born Dec 12, 1926 in Crawfordsville and was a 1944 graduate of Ladoga High School where he played basketball. He worked for R. R. Donnelly’s as Prepress technician, retiring in 1991 and was a member of Ladoga Presbyterian Church.
He joined the U.S. Navy on Dec 1, 1944 and received his training at U.S. Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, IL. He was stationed on the USS Tabora AKA45. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on Aug 17, 1946.
He was a kind, warm hearted man who loved his family and sports.
He married Helen Williams in 1947 and they lived in Ladoga for 68 years before moving to Whitlock Place in 2015. Bob and Helen had been married for 71 years at her passing in Aug of 2018.
Survivors include his children, Steve (Ruthanna) and Dave (Janie), both of Crawfordsville; sister, Janet (Dave) Caster of Labelle, FL; along with eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Maxine Williamson; brother-in-law, Homer Williams; sister-in-law, Mary Walters, Rosemary Williams, Doris Dice; and brother-in-law-Jim Dice.
Funeral services will be held Noon Sept 21, 2019 at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Mike Whitacre officiating. Friends and family may pay their respects two hours prior to the service. Burial with military rites will follow at Oak Hill cemetery South.
