Dear Editor:

The move by the county rezone the property behind Pleasant Meadows is now to the City Council.

The county wants to place heavy industry on the existing farmland, in fact within 200 feet of some back yards. We have no idea of what could be placed back there.

If this goes through there could be buildings, smokestacks, heavy equipment and trains operating 24-7 in the future. Gone will be peace and quiet, crops growing and deer grazing.

If you live on the other side of town, don't think this doesn't affect you. Do you go to the Boys and Girls Club or to one of the churches on Whitlock Avenue? Think about the traffic already there then add potentially hundreds of more vehicles, including large trucks to Whitlock.

The City can stop this but so far the county is getting their way. If you care, show up at the City Council meeting Monday, May 13, at 7 p.m.
