Dear Editor,
I would like to give a special "thank you" to those that made the Linden Carnegie Public Library Summer Reading Program a very successful event this year!
Thank you to to Tipmont REMC, AppleBees, The Mitchell Agency, McDonalds North, Blankenship Auto Care, Linden Pizza Corner, Kroger Company, Denhart's Feed & Mercantile, Nucor Steel, Dollar General Corporation, HHSB, Penguin Random House, Valero, Hedricks Farms, Kiwanis Club of Crawfordsville and Barry & Jerrie Bruce.
With your support we were able to purchase many craft items, prizes and snacks for the participants! I want to thank Jolinda Brunton, Danny Wright and Rich Watkins for the special programs they presented to the children.
Our theme was "Back to Nature" and we all learned new information and how to have fun outside in our creeks and State Parks.
Thank you to the Spunky Bunny for designing and making the staff t-shirts.
I also want to thank the children for attending and the dedicated parents and grandparents who made sure the children arrived each week. We had 13 children with perfect attendance. We have an awesome group of parents who always lend a helping hand during our events and we appreciate them so much!
I also want to thank my assistant Linda Forbes who has made the Children's Department all that it is today! Thank you to Kimbra Lough and Alice McCloud for taking care of business with the circulation desk while I am having fun with the programs! Everyone made new friends this year and we are so grateful for the participants and sponsors.
The final party was held at the Linden Park across from the Lindy Freeze where each person was treated to ice cream thanks to the Kiwanis Club. A picnic meal was catered by Allen's Country Kitchen due to the donations from our sponsors. Thank you again to everyone who touched the lives of our children in Linden.
Kathie Watkins
Linden Library Director
