The Crawfordsville Athenians beat Benton Central 3-2 in their home meet on Monday.

The Athenians swept the singles pairings as no. 1 Eddie Heinhold, no. 2 Ryan Fry and no. 3 Blake Froedge beat their opponents. Crawfordsville head coach Carrie Jones had praises for her players.

“Our singles players really played excellent tennis tonight. They were focused and executed their shots beautifully.” Jones said.

Heinhold and Fry won their matches 6-1, 6-0. Froedge beat his opponent 6-3 in both sets.

“They have really showed improvement each day and tonight they really demonstrated how hard they've worked.” Jones said.

Zack Fry and Alex Thurston of Benton Central defeated Mitchell Karp and Parker Watt 1-6, 6-3 and 6-2 in the no. 1 doubles match. Aaron Mak Hofman and Kordell Green defeated the Athenians’ Jake Decker and Eli Donovan 6-3 in both sets.

Crawfordsville’s match today against Rockville has been changed from away to a home match at 5 p.m.
