6-foot senior Macee Williams (pictured) proved to be too much for Crawfordsville as Fountain Central walked out of Montgomery County with a 3-0 victory, 25-14, 25-22, 25-16.

Williams controlled the middle of the floor and the server’s position as she recorded 12 kills, five aces, eight solo blocks and 11 digs.

It was hard for Crawfordsville to sustain any momentum as Fountain Central often placed the 1-18 Athenians on their heels. Williams’ serve style featuring a running windup that sent the ball to the other side in quick fashion. Her serve was so hard that whenever the Athenians tried to do anything with it, the ball would take a nose dive towards their side for a Fountain Central point.

Abby Bannon led the Athenians in the digs column with four. Her teammates Caroline Schueren and Fabiola Castro had three a piece. Schueren also co-led with Emilea Pursell with four assists. Pursell added two kills. Schueren rounded out her performance with four kills, a category in which Madison Wendelin led with five.

Mia Stadler, Lilly Bushong and Zoe Walbert all finished with two digs. Walbert added three kills in her performance.

Crawfordsville is back in action on Sept. 24 when they travel to Clinton Central for the Clinton Central Invite at 9 a.m.
