NEW MARKET – The Lady Mounties have been knocking on the door looking for their first win of the season. After taking the Lady Mustangs to five sets last Thursday, and dropping two close games to Frankfort on Saturday in the Noblesville Invitational, Southmont finally got the proverbial monkey off their backs with a25-21, 25-16, 25-17 win over the South Putnam Eagles.
“Tonight’s win was amazing,” said Mountie head coach Kristin Charles. “We’ve been close, so many times lately, so it was nice to finally finish.”
The first set was back-and-forth. The Mounties forced an Eagle timeout leading 21-15. They would extend that lead to 23-16 after a Diamond Hutchinson kill, before the Eagles clawed their way back to trail just 23-20 that forced a Mountie timeout. However, Macy Wells kill gave the Mounties set one.
