DOVER – The Athenians were outshined by the Western Boone
softball team 11-1 in the final game of the week’s series. The Stars put up 10
hits verse Crawfordsville’s four to help fill the bases for their 11 runs.
Olivia Hole (WP) gave up four hits in four innings while
earning two strikeouts for the Stars. Heather Clark came in relief to shutout
the Athenians bats in the last two innings and also accumulating three
strikeouts.
Olivia Barnett (LP) pitched all seven innings for
Crawfordsville, giving up 10 hits, four walks and striking out three.
She also got one of the Athenians hits, accompanied by
Krystyn Flynn, Elyssa Bentley and Addie Laskowski. Flynns’ double in the third
inning put her in scoring position for Mia Stadlers’ right-field shot credited
for a field error but scoring the run.
Western Boone started scoring early with two runs in the
first, adding on every inning except for the fifth. The Stars were led by
Alayna Raby and Shelby Medley who each had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Their 10 hits
were accompanied by nine RBIs.
The Stars move to 4-5, 2-2 SAC and play North Montgomery in
a double header today. The Athenians (0-9, 0-4 SAC) will come right back and
play Frankfort at Frankfort today in an 11 a.m. game.
