It is the start of a new era for Crawfordsville football under new head coach Larry Getts.

In season no. 11, Getts just wants his new team to play with a stronger mentality in Friday’s game against Greencastle.

“We have to make the decision as a team and as individuals that we are not going to let another teenager push us around the field.” Getts said. “The game is all about blocking and tackling—the team that does this the best usually wins.”

Greencastle is a senior-oriented team this season after finishing with a dismal 1-9 record in 2015.

“They are a well-coached team.” Getts said. “They have the ability to pass and run the ball effectively—they are very aggressive defensively.”

For Getts, getting the first win under his belt is all a testament to his team’s work ethics during the winter and summer conditioning programs.

“They have sacrificed and put in the time.” Getts said. “Friday would be a great time to make their blood, sweat and tears pay off.”

“They deserve a victory.” He said. “They have earned the right—they just have to go take it.”

Crawfordsville travels to Greencastle for the season opener. That contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
