This is what I expect for Friday’s North Montgomery vs Crawfordsville game. I expect the crowd to be a record crowd. You might as well plan on being there early because I have no doubt it will be stand room only. It is going to be a fun game with a great crowd atmosphere. That will be fueled by an exciting game that will come down to the wire. What I’m saying is you really don’t want to miss this game, it’s really big deal.

As if a county rivalry game between the Chargers and Athenians is not enough of a draw, it's also North’s Homecoming. In addition to that, North will be hosting a reunion for the 1995 and 1996 State Champion Football Teams. The players, coaches, cheerleaders, managers, spouses, and children of the 95 and 96 teams will all be admitted for no cost.

Franciscan Physicians Network will sponsor a tailgate in the south end zone at 6 p.m. Team members will be introduced before the game at 6:45 p.m.

The weather is forecasted to be kind of perfect in my opinion, with clear skies and game-time temperature at 79 degrees. Hopefully, this forecast is correct because the past few years when North has hosted homecoming it's been monsoon rains and cold and miserable.

There is a massive amount of pride at stakes for both teams. With a Crawfordsville win, the Athenians can claim their first County title since 2007.  The Athenians would love nothing more than to win county, spoil North’s Homecoming and get revenge after being embarrassed last season losing 73-20. Trust me when I say Crawfordsville is not the same team they were last year. They have made great strides in turning their program around behind the leadership of Larry Getts.

North wants to get back on the winning track no matter which team they play. After suffering losses in their last three conference games, they are hungry for a win. Not only do they want to put an end to the Athenians chances at winning County, they want to win on homecoming night and impress the former players from the championship team.

I’m looking forward an exciting game and a great crowd. However, I remind you all to keep it classy, we all live in the same community so in the words of my all-time favorite teacher Mr. Hankins . . . ”Don’t do any of that dumb stuff!”
