The North Montgomery girls’ soccer team came out strong in its season opener.

Kinsey Humphreys notched a hat trick and added an assist. Caroline McClaskey had one assist and Meredith Tyo scored the other goal for the Chargers as they shutout Benton Central 4-0.

“We played a great team game.” Head coach Julie Hodges said. “The first 25 minutes of the game we came out very strong—I was very happy with the defense marking tight with excellent clears.“

“The defense and goalie deserved the shutout tonight, they played very well.” Hodges added. “They adjusted well to the other team's formation.”

Regina Dodds was credited for the shutout. North Montgomery gets three days of rest before taking on South Vermillion at 10 a.m on Aug. 20.
