NEW MARKET-It was a record-setting night once again for Hannah Whicker and the Crawfordsville Lady Athenians soccer team. Whicker scored three goals to make it 31 for the year, breaking Hannah Spencer's single season record set in 2005. Crawfordsville won the game 5-0.

"I thought we started off slow the first 10 minutes. They were physical," Crawfordsville head coach Brent Bokhart said. "We gradually found our feet and started working it around. Defensively, the girls did a great job. It was good team defense. They kept their organization a lot throughout the game. Southmont has some strong players."

In addition to Whicker's three goals, Cali Saunders scored and Krystyn Flynn scored the only goal of the second half.

The defensive struggle saw Southmont take just one shot on goal.

"Both teams had few chances and we didn't work the keeper. Our shots were either high or wide," Southmont head coach Alfredo Villalpando said. "What can you say about Hannah? She's just so good. We did our best to stop her."

Southmont (1-7-1. 1-4 Sagamore Athletic Conference) will hold the Southmont Invite Saturday. Crawfordsville (9-1-2, 3-1 SAC) goes to Cascade Saturday.
