INDIANAPOLIS - The Crawfordsville wrestling capped its dual season with a 4-1 day at the Cardinal Ritter Super Six Duals on Saturday.

The Athenians' (15-11) only blemish of the day came to Whiteland in the third round, 42-30. Crawfordsville beat Triton Central (48-36), Cardinal Ritter (57-15), Guerin Catholic (52-24) and Eastern Hancock (38-36).

Four Athenians finished the day as weight-class champions with 5-0 records. Crawfordsville dominated the lighter weights, with Mitchell Rogers, Skylar Crum and Jonah Shillings going 5-0 at 106, 120 and 126 pounds, respectively. Robert Manns bumped from his normal 182 class to 195 and still dominated the day with a perfect record.

"I was really pleased with our effort on Saturday. Our kids wrestled hard, but most importantly, we wrestled hard in every round," Crawfordsville head coach Chris Ervin said. "We didn't have that 'bad round' that has been typical of us this year, so I am really pleased that we finished with great effort and consistency. This should give us some momentum and a positive outing to build on towards sectional."

Other wrestlers that had quality Saturdays were Broderick Snyder (113 pounds), Cameron Douglas (132) and Nathan Bean (285) who all finished 4-1. Deontace Peete was 1-0 at 220 pounds, splitting time with AC Rudolph, who recently returned from a knee injury.

Crawfordsville will act as host for the sectional on Saturday. Action starts at 9 a.m.
