North tennis gets SAC win, 5-0
Tuesday, September 2, 2014 7:13 PM
LINDEN-North Montgomery has won six straight matches and is now 1-0 in the Sagamore Athletic Conference boys tennis ranks. Those facts are thanks to a 5-0 win over Danville Tuesday night at home.
The Chargers had to do some shuffling with their No. 1 singles player, Nelson Harpham injured. Luke Weliever stepped up at No. 1 and won 6-1, 6-0. That pushed Devan Plant to No. 2, where he won in straight sets as well, 7-5, 6-4.
Ben Douma was tasked with playing third singles and got out to a good start with a 6-2 set win to open things. He was defeated 6-3 in the second set, but bounced back to close it out 6-4.
The doubles pairs of Mitch Merica / Tyler Swick and Zach Walke / Collin Denham won in straight sets.
