The Frankfort Hot Dog's boys' basketball team came into the game tonight with confidence as they defeated Western Boone.

The Hot Dog's had to get adjusted to the speed of the game that Western Boone was throwing at them says Frankfort coach Jarod Catron, but the boys were able to change their pace and won 70-59.

Catron comments, "Obviously Jarrod Smith got 40 points. He came off with confidence about the entire game. Freshman Malik King came in and gave us some strong defense."

Jarrod Smith was on fire tonight as he scored more than half of Frankfort's point. Luis Medina contributed 12 points, Carter Taylor had six, and both Quintin Frazier and Jordan Campbell had five points.

As the boys prepare for their next game tomorrow night at Rossville, Catron says they are going to, "just work on a couple of the little things. We need better ball handling with pressure. We're going to have to be ready to be physically, get adapted to the calls, and take care of the ball like we did tonight.

Western Boone Coach Scott McClelland commented on tonight's game by saying, "Tonight was a tough game for us all, but our kids still played hard and battled and tried to get us into game."

The Stars had a tough second half tonight when their starter Jason Smith was taken out early in the second quarter due to an ankle/foot injury. McClelland says he does not have an updated status on Smith, but knows he is getting x-rayed.

Western Boone loss another starter in the second quarter due a rolled ankle. Luckily Kaleb McCloskey was able to come back later in the game, but Western Boone had already gotten themselves in a bit of hole that they could not climb out of.

McClelland says he is going to give credit where credit is due and that Frankfort played well tonight.

Riggs Baxter led the Stars tonight with 25 points. Kaleb McCloskey was still able to contribute 12 points tonight with a rolled ankle.

Follow the Stars as they take on Hamilton Heights tomorrow night beginning at 7:30 p.m. The game is away.
