Second-half struggles bury C'ville girls
Friday, January 30, 2015 7:09 PM
FRANKFORT - The Crawfordsville Lady Athenians played perhaps one of their best quarters, and maybe halves, of the season Friday in Frankfort. Unfortunately, their strong play wasn't enough in the end, as the Hot Dogs celebrated their Senior Night with a 61-51 win.
Crawfordsville committed just two turnovers in the first quarter, shot 75 percent, 8-of-12, from the field, which included 80 percent, 4-of-5, from beyond the arc. Erika Brooks was a perfect 4of-4 in the quarter, with two 3-point baskets to lead the team with 10. Lacey Garrett chipped in eight.

Free throws not free for Lady Mounties
Thursday, January 22, 2015 7:58 PM
NEW MARKET -- In a game with more than 60 fouls between the two teams, free throws are essential. Southmont's Lady Mounties couldn't seem to find the bucket from the line at home, giving the Frankfort Lady Hot Dogs the win, 53-30.
Of the 29 free throws attempted by South, only eight found their mark, giving the team a free throw percentage of 27.6 percent.
"You would think we had never shot a free throw," Coach Susan McVay said. "You know at halftime we were shooting 25 percent from the free throw line, and I think we had us down at 19 turnovers, and we're still only down 10. I'm not sure how."
