The Athenian tennis team headed indoors under the protection
of Wabash’s indoor courts to play their senior night conference match against
Frankfort.
The team completed their eighth straight win with a sweep of
the Hot Dogs 5-0. Each match was completed in two sets. The most games given up
in those two matches were five. Both Mia Katzenberger at number one singles and
Reilly Dunham and Faith Fyffe at number two doubles did not give up any games.
“Everyone played a great match,” Athenian coach Marina
Cooper said. “Our seniors had the perfect night on senior night.”
The seniors this year are Mia and Lizzy Katzenberger, Emma
Heinhold, Reilly Dunham, Faith Fyffe and Sydney Chaney.
“Above all, I am proud of everything each and every one of
these seniors have accomplished on the court and in the class room,” Cooper
added. “They are a special group with a bright future.”
The Athenians (10-5, 5-1 SAC) stay at the top of the
conference along with Lebanon and North Montgomery. They hit the courts again
Thursday at Harrison.
