FRANKFORT - North Montgomery capped a long week of wrestling with a trip to Frankfort for five duals on Saturday. The Chargers came away with a 3-2 record on the day with wins over Frankfort (53-16), McCutcheon (58-21) and Kokomo (62-12) and losses to Hamilton Southeastern (51-9) and Lebanon (37-27).

Jesse Archer was the only Charger to go undefeated on the day. He was 5-0 at 160 pounds. Corwyn Hall at 106, Zach McCoy at 120 and Tanner Webster at 152 were 4-1 on the day. McCoy's day included a win over Austin Holmes, of Hamilton Southeastern, 6-2. Holmes is ranked No. 3 in the state and finished fourth at the state meet at 113 pounds last year.

"I thought we wrestled well. With a young group, it's a lot of these guys' first time wrestling five duals in one day against a really high level of competition," North Montgomery head coach Maurice Swain said. "We lost a couple of matches where we were right there. We have to be ready to win those against those kids next time as we get into January and February when things really start to matter."

The invitational capped a week that saw North Montgomery beat Tri-West on Tuesday, lose to the states No. 1 team in 2A, Yorktown, on Thursday and make the trip to Frankfort on Saturday. The Chargers (10-3) will be off this week as they prepare to go to Crawfordsville for the Montgomery County meet on Saturday.
