NEW MARKET-Things are on the upswing for the Southmont boys' soccer team. After a 3-2 win over North Montgomery Monday, the Mounties came back and battled with Greencastle Tuesday. Greencastle came out on top, 3-2, but Southmont kept the improvement going.

"It was a great game both ways," head coach Brandon Rash said. "We had many chances but just didn't capitalize. We are playing more and more physical each game and that is great to see."

Malik Gayler and Cole Wemer scored the goals for the Mounties. Devin Miller made nine saves.

"One great thing to see out of the team is creating more chances for goals. Now we just need to finish," Rash added. "Mikal Farabee and Devin Miller have stepped up as huge leaders."

Southmont (2-5) travels to the Hamilton Heights Invitational Saturday.
