The Mounties got on the board first with an unassisted goal by Macy Zachary 14 minutes into the first half.

Western Boone evened it up with 18:56 remaining on a goal from Meg Kinslow. They took the lead with seven and a half left in the first half when Madison Wright found Audrey Dugan for a score.

LIZTON-They only played a half before the storms came, but the final will count as No. 17 Tri-West defeated Southmont 4-1 Thursday.

Southmont got on the board first thanks to an unassisted goal from freshman Macy Zachary. Tri-West got going midway through the half and scored their four goals in the last 20 minutes.

"We looked good. We scored first and took it to them for the first 20 minute," Southmont head coach Alfredo Villalpando said. "I think we just started making mistakes defensively. A team like Tri-West will punish you if you make mistakes."

The Bruins out-shot the Mounties 7-6 and Southmont goalkeeper Abby Rivers made four saves.

Next for Southmont (4-9-2) is a sectional matchup on Tuesday with North Putnam. The teams have met twice already this season with the Cougars winning both matchups, including a shootout win at the Southmont Invitational.

CLINTON-The Lady Mounties' soccer team is heating up at the right time. The team got their third win in a row Wednesday night with a 5-1 final at South Vermillion.

"We definitely feel like we are building momentum," head coach Alfredo Villalpando said.

Freshman Macy Zachary had a huge night with four goals in the second half that broke a 1-1 tie. Avery Hess scored the goal in the first half. Rachel Welliever tallied an assist.

"In the first half we were a little flat," Villalpando said. "We were getting good looks but kept kicking it straight to the keeper. We told the girls to focus on getting it by her more in the second half."

NEW MARKET-It was a record-setting night once again for Hannah Whicker and the Crawfordsville Lady Athenians soccer team. Whicker scored three goals to make it 31 for the year, breaking Hannah Spencer's single season record set in 2005. Crawfordsville won the game 5-0.

"I thought we started off slow the first 10 minutes. They were physical," Crawfordsville head coach Brent Bokhart said. "We gradually found our feet and started working it around. Defensively, the girls did a great job. It was good team defense. They kept their organization a lot throughout the game. Southmont has some strong players."

In addition to Whicker's three goals, Cali Saunders scored and Krystyn Flynn scored the only goal of the second half.

The defensive struggle saw Southmont take just one shot on goal.
