The Paper’s Girls Track & Field All-County Team had
three runners, three field athletes and one who did both. There were four
Chargers, two Athenians and one Mountie on All-Montgomery County.
Caroline McClaskey led the North Montgomery sprinters in the
100, 200 and 400 meter dashes, winning the County race in each of them. She ran
to a 200 and 400 Sagamore Athletic Conference championship while also snagging
a 400 Sectional title. Her Regional qualification ended with a sixth place.
McClaskey’s personal records include a 13.2 in the 100, a 27.2 in the 200 and a
1:01.02 in the 400.
McClaskey, Kendall Humphreys and Katelyn McClerkin were all
part of the 4X400 relay that won County, placed third at Sectional and went on
to a 13th at Regional.
Humphreys was another sprinter for North who placed second
in the 200 and 400 at County and third in the 100. She continued to a second in
the 200 at Conference. She also helped the 4X100 relay to a sixth place at
Sectional. Humphrey sprinted to a 13.5 personal record in the 100, a 27.7 in
the 200 and a 1:04.78 in the 400.
McClerkin ran the longer distances with a field event mixed
in. She was County champ in the 800 run and placed second in the 1600. She
continued with a Conference second-place in the 800 and fourth at Sectional.
She had top placements in the long jump with a third in the long jump at County
and a fifth at Sectional. Her fastest 800 was 2:28.52 and her longest jump was
15’4.25”.
Maddy Hurt and Kim Hampton represent Crawfordsville on
All-County.
Hurt dominated the 1600 and 3200 runs in both the County and
Conference meets. She finished third in each event at Sectional to qualify for
Regional. She ended with an 11th in the 1600 and a 15th
in the 3200.
Hampton hurdled to a County championship in 110 meters and
placed second at Conference. In the 300 hurdles, she finished second at County.
She competed in four Sectional events: the 110 and 300 hurdles, the long jump
and the 4X400 relay, placing two sevenths and two tenths.
Mountie Brittany Barrett was The Paper’s Girls Track &
Field Athlete of the Year tacking a County championship in the long jump and
300 hurdles onto her pole vault achievements. She placed fourth in the long
jump at Sectional.
