Montgomery County baseball and softball action was the driving force at Crawfordsville High School Tuesday night. In the baseball game, Crawfordsville’s pitchers limited Southmont to a pair of hits and the Athenians found just enough offense for the 2-0 win.
Cam Saunders and Austin Warren split time on the hill for the Athenians. They each allowed one hit and combined for 10 strikeouts and just two walks. Saunders took the win.
At the plate, Crawfordsville needed just four hits. Josh Blackburn, Saunders, Jake Decker and Cale McCarty accounted for the offense. Blackburn and Saunders scored runs.
Cole Roach was almost as masterful for the Mounties. He struck out 10 batters in six innings of work without allowing an earned run. Peyton Wininger had the only two hits for the Mounties.
The teams will meet again Thursday at Southmont.

Lady Mounties grab the win
Next to the baseball game, the Southmont softball team had plenty of offense in an 11-1 win over Crawfordsville.
Claire Remley, Natalie Manion, Logan Berrisford and Marissa Craig each had two hits for the Mounties. Bailey Thompson also had a hit. Craig and Thompson drove in three runs each while Manion, Berrisford and Knowling each had an RBI.
Knowling got the complete-game win, striking out three without allowing an earned run.
Crawfordsville tallied four hits, two of which came from Addie Laskowski. Olivia Barnett and Maddie Utterback each had a hit with Utterback driving in the run.
The teams will meet again Thursday at Southmont.

Chargers pick up SAC win
LINDEN – Griffon Fuller and Seth Johnson teamed up to twirl a 1-hitter Tuesday as the North Montgomery baseball team slid past Tri-West 3-0. Fuller worked 6.2 innings and struck out 10 batters against just three walks. He took the win.
At the plate, Fuller added a pair of hits. Jacob Verduin had a big night with three hits and an RBI. Kai Warren, Jacob Braun and Johnson each had a hit. Braun and Johnson tallied RBIs.
The Chargers will travel to Tri-West Thursday for the rematch

Charger girls drop two
LINDEN – The North Montgomery softball team dropped two games to Tri-West at home Tuesday night, 13-0 and 16-0.
Cailin Campbell and Caitlin Campbell had the only two hits for the Chargers in the first game. Cailin Campbell added three hits in the second game, accounting for the Charger offense.
North will take on Danville at home on Saturday
