The Crawfordsville baseball team stayed perfect in the Sagamore Athletic Conference and earned its 20th win of the season with a 5-4 triumph over North Montgomery Monday night at home.
The Athenians jumped out to a 5-2 lead after four, but the Chargers threatened late. North Montgomery got a pair of runs back in the sixth, but Austin Warren closed things out for Crawfordsville. Cam Saunders took the win in the contest.
Crawfordsville (20-3, 11-0 SAC) makes the trip to North Montgomery (7-15, 2-9) tonight for round two.

Athenian girls victorious
The Crawfordsville softball team was also on the right side of the outcome Monday night in county and Sagamore Athletic Conference action. The Lady Athenians beat North Montgomery 11-0 in five innings.
Olivia Barnett tossed a 2-hitter for Crawfordsville. She struck out three and walked just one.
At the plate, Shea Williamson led Crawfordsville with two hits, three RBIs and a run. Lauren Kellerman, Barnett, Maddie Utterback and Olivia Reed each had a hit. Barnett drove in a pair of runs to help her cause. Reed and Sierra Hutchison also tallied RBIs.
Cailin Campbell and Grace Little had the hits for the Chargers.
The teams will meet again tonight at North Montgomery for the rematch. With the win, Crawfordsville moves to 8-15 on the year and 1-10 in conference. North Montgomery is 0-17 and 0-11 in league play.

Mounties lose in seventh
NEW MARKET – The Southmont and Lebanon baseball teams were knotted at 1-1 after six innings, but a 3-run seventh from the Tigers gave them the 4-1 win.
Tyeson Bushong had a 2-hit night for Southmont. Cole Roach, Peyton Wininger and Logan Smith also had hits. Smith drove in the only run for the Mounties.
Ryan Stanley worked five innings for the Mounties, striking out six and giving up just one hit and one run.
The Mounties (7-11, 4-7 SAC) are at Lebanon tonight for the rematch.

Bats quiet for Lady Mounties
NEW MARKET – The Southmont softball team couldn’t get the bats going in Monday’s 4-0 Sagamore Athletic Conference loss to Lebanon Monday. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the fourth and added three insurance runs in the sixth.
For Southmont, Paige Knowling, Logan Berrisford, Hanna Nichols and Marissa Craig each had a hit.
Knowling went the distance in the circle, striking out eight while walking one and allowing just one earned run.
Southmont (10-11, 5-6 SAC) are at Lebanon tonight for the rematch.

Lady Athenians win finale
With the sectional set for this week, the Crawfordsville tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-0 win over Lafayette Jefferson Monday night.
Sarah Chalmers, Lauren Hale and Hannah McClean each won in straight sets at singles action. The duos of Alyssa Myers / Emmy Hale and Alli Wagner / Cathleen McGrady were victorious in doubles.
Crawfordsville will take on North Montgomery in the sectional opener this week. The winner will play the winner of Parke Heritage and Southmont for the championship.
