The North Montgomery tennis team earned the Montgomery County crown and a share of the Sagamore Athletic Conference title Wednesday with a 4-1 win over Southmont. The girls finish the league season at 5-1, sharing the title with Frankfort and Western Boone.
The Chargers swept singles action with Mary Jackman, Aryn Groves and Kaitlyn Greenlee earning points. The Southmont duo of Sophie Reimondo and Hope Lighty won at No. 1 doubles. But it was the Charger duo of Gracie Chapman and Allison Guard that got the point at No. 2 doubles.
The Chargers move to 11-3 on the season and are at home tonight against Pike to wrap up the regular season.

Mounties top two SAC squads
The Southmont golf team picked up a nice win Thursday night over Lebanon and Western Boone. The Mounties and Tigers both fired 167s with Southmont taking the tiebreaker with the sixth score. Western Boone was third with a 191.
Micah Korhorn led the way for Southmont with a 39. Will Bradley turned in a 41 and Trevor McKinney shot a 43. Cam King and Carson McKinney shot a 44 and 45, respectively. Brodie Mitchell was the deciding factor with his 48.

North boys fall
The North Montgomery baseball team lost a lead late Wednesday in a 3-2 Sagamore Athletic Conference loss at Tri-West. The Bruins tallied three runs in the sixth for the win.
Jacob Braun, Seth Johnson and Kade Kobel had North Montgomery’s hits. Kai Warren and Griffon Fuller notched RBIs.
The Chargers are at home against Clinton Central Saturday.
