NEW MARKET – While it was less decisive than the 27-0 final from Tuesday, the Southmont softball team was again successful in defeating North Montgomery Thursday, 10-0.
Paige Knowling took to the circle for the shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out 12 Chargers. She scored four runs herself with a hit, three walks and two RBIs.
Natalie Manion led Southmont with two hits and three RBIs. Marissa Craig, Claire Remley, Ryleigh Cable, Hannah Thompson and Bailey Thompson each had hits for South. Manion tripled.
Catie Campbell and Lilly Shaw accounted for North Montgomery’s hits.
North Montgomery (0-6, 0-2 SAC) stays busy when Seeger comes to town tonight. Southmont (3-2, 2-2 SAC) is at Parke Heritage Monday.

Athenians sweep Bruins
LIZTON – It took just five innings for the Crawfordsville baseball team to move to 2-0 in the Sagamore Athletic Conference and 5-2 overall with Thursday’s 10-0 win over Tri-West. Austin Warren and Jake Decker teamed up to no-hit the Bruins. They each had five strikeouts.
Decker helped out the cause at the dish with three hits and two RBIs. Will Kellerman and Cam Saunders had a pair of hits each while Carson Scott, Josh Blackburn, Warren, and Henry Taylor each had a hit. Scott, Blackburn, Warren, Saunders and Austin Motz each drove in a run.
Crawfordsville will be host for the Athenian Invited on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

Bruins drop Lady Athenians
LIZTON – The Crawfordsville softball team mustered just four hits in a 15-3 loss at Tri-West Thursday. The girls scored in each of the first three innings, but just couldn’t keep pace with the hosts.
Lauren Kellerman had two hits for Crawfordsville. Isabel Viveros and Addie Laskowski accounted for a hit each. Kellerman, Maddie Utterback and Olivia Reed scored.
Crawfordsville (2-6, 0-4 SAC) is at Western Boone Tuesday.

Chargers grab county win
North Montgomery edged Crawfordsville in a close county tennis match Thursday, 3-2. Aryn Groves and Kaitlynn Greenlee picked up wins for North Montgomery at No. 2 and No. 3 singles while Sarah Chalmers took No. 1 singles for Crawfordsville.
North’s No. 1 doubles team of Karli Fidler and Caitlin Fedor grabbed the win. Cathleen McGrady and Alyssa Myers took the No. 2 point in favor of Crawfordsville.
Crawfordsville is at Terre Haute South Saturday. North Montgomery welcomes Lafayette Jeff Monday.

Mounties cruise
Southmont cruised to a 5-0 win on the tennis courts Thursday over Attica at home. Hope Lighty, Sophie Reimondo and Elizabeth Truncone won in straight sets in singles action. The teams of Mallory Murphy / Madison Murphy and Megan Scheidler / Bailey Barker were victorious in doubles play.
Southmont is at Parke Heritage Thursday.
