NEW MARKET – Southmont capped a perfect week with an 11-0 win over Fountain Central in baseball action Friday. The Mounties won all four games they played this week to bring their record to 5-3.
Cody Laster spun a gem for the hosts. He allowed just one hit and struck out two in the run-rule-shortened five inning game.
At the dish, Ryan Stanley, Cole Roach, Hunter Chadwick and Peyton Wininger had two hits each. Wininger doubled and he and Chadwick had three RBIs each. Roach drove in two runs while Stanley and Ashton Pruitt tallied an RBI each. Tyeson Bushon and Pruitt added hits.
Southmont will travel to Lizton Tuesday in a return to Sagamore Athletic Conference action against Tri-West. The Bruins make the trip to South for the rematch Thursday.

Chargers defeated
COVINGTON – In a high-scoring affair Friday, the North Montgomery baseball team lost to Covington, 18-8. While the bats were working, North Montgomery committed nine errors and issued 10 walks in the loss.
Owen Gregg had three hits for the Chargers and drove in two runs. Jacob Braun and Griffon Fuller also had multi-hit nights. Jaxon Plant , Jacob Verduin and Kevin Ambriz each hit safely. Braun and Plant tallied RBIs.
North Montgomery (2-5) is at Seeger Monday before traveling to Danville Tuesday to kick off another week of Sagamore Athletic Conference action.
