FRANKFORT – The Southmont boys’ and girls’ swim teams both grabbed wins over Frankfort on Tuesday, with the boys’ team winning 95-68 and the girls’ team grabbing a 108-59 victory.
In boys’ action, two swimmers captured multiple wins in individual events. John Zimmerman grabbed two individual wins in the 200 free and 100 backstroke as well as two relay wins in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay while Evan Jordan finished with two individual wins in the 50 free and 100 free.
In girls’ action, three swimmers grabbed multiple wins in individual events. Emma Tyler finished with individual wins in the 200 I.M. and 500 free, Jane Scheidler grabbed individual wins in the 50 free and 100 free and Megan Scheidler ended with wins in the 200 free and 100 backstroke. Tyler, Scheidler and Scheidler also grabbed relay wins in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay.
Both teams will travel for an away matchup against Greencastle on Thursday at 6 p.m.

South wrestling grabs win
NEW MARKET – In a matchup against North Putnam on Tuesday, the Southmont wrestling team grabbed a 63-12 victory and improved to 7-0 on the season.
The Mounties had seven wrestlers earn victories in their specific weight classes, with Noah Benge winning by pin at 120, Dillan Lauy winning by pin at 132, Dimitrie Lauy winning by pin at 138, Jayden Williams winning by pin at 145, Logan Benge winning by pin at 160, Riley Woodall winning by pin at 182 and Zion Essex winning by decision at 220. Southmont’s Clayton Downey, Ty Welliever, Jud Vancleave and Bayley Baumer all won by forfeit.
The team will return to action on Saturday at the Calumet Invitational beginning at 10 a.m.

Mountie swimming falls to Lebanon
NEW MARKET – The boys’ and girls’ swim teams of Southmont both suffered losses against Lebanon on Saturday, with the boys’ team losing 115-64 and the girls’ team losing 92-88.
The boys’ team had three swimmers grab wins in multiple events: Shawn Mountcastle won in the 200 I.M. and the 200 medley relay, John Zimmerman was victorious in the 100 backstroke and the 200 medley relay and Caden Bowlin finished first in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 medley relay.
The girls’ team finished with two swimmers winning multiple events, with Jane Scheidler finishing first in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free relay and 400 free relay while Emma Tyler grabbed victories in the 200 I.M., 100 fly and the 200 free relay.
