Western Boone had a good battle tonight against the Hamilton Heights Huskies, but the points just did not add up.

The boys' basketball team lost 70-50, but with good effort. The Stars had the lead at the end of the first quarter before Hamilton Heights led them 31-22.

Stars Coach Scott McClelland comments on his boys' performance, "I'm really proud of the kids tonight. Really proud of their effort. We battled all night, and we competed. We played really good against a really good basketball team. We showed some true character and battled tonight."

"We made some strides tonight. Those strides may not be seen until February. Many kids saw their first game of their career tonight."

The Stars lost two of their starters last night due to ankle injuries, and there is not telling when they will be returning.

Jason Smith is looking at least three weeks before he can return. Kaleb McCloskey will know more Monday when he goes to a doctor for x-rays. The athletic trainer said no to McCloskey playing tonight.

It may be a couple week playing without them, but McClelland comments, "I don't want anyone to feel bad for us. We're just going to have to learn from it and get better."

McClelland says his team is going to work on themselves and every aspect of their defense before their game this Friday night at Danville.
