The Western Boone Boys' Tennis team began their season with a weather shortened match on Tuesday, but that didn't stop them from finishing off the Covington Trojans on Thursday. The Stars defeated the Trojans 5-0 and only dropped 3 total games along the way.

David James defeated Ethan Snyder at 1 Singles 6-0, 6-1, Korbin Lough won 6-1, 6-0 very Kyle Cates at 2 Singles, Ethan Dobbs won at 3 Singles 6-0, 6-0 very Mason Poer, Connor Corwin and Jason Smith won at 1 Doubles 6-0, 6-0 versus Amit Shah and Chase Noble, and the 2 Doubles team of Gus Holdorf and Zach Prickett defeated Ryan Story and Jordan Hunley 6-1, 6-0.

In JV action, Nathan Isenhower and Levi Michalke defeated Kyle Hill and Austin Swaney 8-1.

The Western Boone Stars' Tennis team improved to 2-0 with a 3-2 victory over the Pike Red Devils on Saturday at Pike High School. The match started well for the Stars as they picked up wins by Korbin Lough (2S) and Gus Holdorf/Zach Prickett (2D). Ethan Dobbs faced his best competition of the year, going up against Senior Charlie Crouse. Dobbs started out well, going ahead 3-1 in the first set, but he eventually fell 3-6, 1-6.

The #1 Doubles team of Connor Corwin and Jason Smith lost their first set in a tie breaker 6-8. They fought back to win the second set, but couldn't overcome a few timely errors to fall in the third set 4-6.

The match of the day came at #1 Singles where David James took on Michael Spoelman. The match went 3 hours and 40 minutes with both players taking the lead in a 3rd set tiebreaker. James finally forced an error by Spoelman and took the tiebreaker 8-6.

In JV action, Matt Brownlee lost 1-8, Levi Michalke fell 3-8, Johnny Bromberek/Dylan Hamerin won 8-3 and Nathan Isenhower/Duncan Hunley also won 8-3.

The Stars host conference foe Southmont on Tuesday in their first conference match.
