The leaders of North Montgomery are ready to march together to a first-round sectional victory.
LINDEN -- Sectional 29 features a first round game between two opponents that met in week eight of the regular season, Western Boone (6-3, 4-3 SAC) and North Montgomery (6-3, 5-2 SAC).

In the week-eight meeting the Chargers came away with an 8-0 victory at Western Boone. Both teams are on streaks of their own. One, North Montgomery, is on a winning streak and the other, Western Boone, is on a losing streak. The Chargers are on a two game win streak, while the Stars are on a three game losing streak.

"We are very anxious to play on Friday night. Our guys know it is now or never" Western Boone head coach Justin Pelley said.

"It's huge to have this kind of momentum. You have to be in close games to know how to win and we have," North Montgomery head coach Josh Thompson said. "We have taken the approach that this is just a normal week."

Western Boone looks to reverse the roles the teams had at the end of the game last time they met. They hope to come out as victors. The Stars felt they made too many mistakes last time and that is something they look to change. Along with fixing mistakes they want to control the football better.

"We made too many mistakes last time we played. We moved the ball, but failed to produce in the redzone" Pelley said.

Last time they faced off North Montgomery held the run heavy Stars to 91 total rushing yards.

"We will have to be more productive on offense and that is the plan. We know we can be successful if we control the ball and allow our defense to keep us in the game" Pelley said.

North looks to repeat their victory and keep their championship hopes alive. Thompson believes his players will be ready to play and not think they have this won because they beat them once already.

"We can't come out and fall back on the success from the last game. It was a close one so we got to come out and be ready to play" Thompson said.

"Last time it was a close game. We were pounding the ball and we want to come out and do it again" senior center Jesse Howard said.

The Chargers ran the ball well last time rushing 40 times for 127 yards. Along with pounding the ball to soften up the defense the Chargers hope to hit the big play when the opportunity presents itself.

"WE have been practicing hitting the big play. Once we hit one or two we will be able to stack them up," junior quarterback Baylee Adams said. "Our defense has been playing well and we have faith in them."

The last time these two teams met in the first round of sectional play was in 2009. The Chargers won 31-28 at Western Boone. That same year the Chargers traveled to Western Boone in week 6 and beat the Stars 41-14. The Chargers look to win and continue their season. They believe they can go far into the tournament.

"We all have it in the back of our minds we can go far. All we have to do is go and take it and give these seniors six more games" Adams said.

Kickoff at North Montgomery High School is at 7 p.m.
