Two teams with very similar statistics, records and styles will square off Thursday as Western Boone visits Crawfordsville in a Sagamore Athletic Conference contest.

The Athenians enter the contest at 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the Conference. They average 53.9 points per game while surrendering 58.5. While the Stars, who enter at 7-10, 1-5 SAC, average 53.8 and give up 58.9.

The Athenians are a perimeter-oriented team, as are the Stars. Both teams are led in scoring by their scoring guards, Devin Guard for Crawfordsville and Kaleb McCloskey for Western Boone. They each have two complimentary guys who can put the ball in the basket in Cameron Harris and Trent Johnson for the Athenians and Marshall Hodgen and Zach McMann for the Stars.

The similarities end there, however. The Stars enter losers of five of their last six averaging just 48 points per game. The Athenians enter winners of three of their last four, including their biggest offensive output of 79 points Saturday against Turkey Run.

The Stars lead the overall series 23-16 including last year’s 60-57 win back on Feb. 6. The winner will be tied with Frankfort for fifth in the Conference. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Crawfordsville.
