It all came down to head-to-head matchups Saturday at the Sagamore Athletic Conference wrestling meet. North Montgomery held a slim lead over Lebanon going into the final placement round of the tournament. The teams met six times in the final round and Lebanon won five of those matches to pick up a win with 228 team points. The Chargers finished second with 212 points. Southmont was third at 200.5. Crawfordsville finished sixth with a team score of 122.

"Like I said in the paper, Lebanon's a juggernaut. They beat us five or six times in the final round. They're a tough team. They're good top to bottom," North Montgomery head coach Maurice Swain said. "I knew coming in that the first two rounds were big. And we wrestled well in those rounds. But if you don't win many matches in the final round it's hard to win the tournament.

DOVER -- Robert Manns beat the No. 3 ranked wrestler in the state at 182 pounds to propel Crawfordsville to a 47-27 win over Western Boone Thursday night.

The win was the 100th for Manns, who is looking for a trip to state in his senior season.

"Morales placed 5th in the state at 182 last year. What a great way to notch No. 100, against a great opponent," Crawfordsville head coach Chris Ervin said.

Western Boone got out to a 6-0 lead with a forfeit win to open things, but Cameron Douglas and Tyler Bilyeu swung things the Athenians' way with a tech fall at 138 and a pin at 145, respectively.

Western Boone notched a pair of weight class wins and Jarrett Janssen earned a pin for Crawfordsville before Manns won a 15-8 decision over Jonathon Morales.

The Athenians sealed the deal with four straight wins from 220 pounds to 113 pounds from Deontace Peete, Nathan Bean, Mitchell Rogers and Broderick Snyder. Jonah Shillings capped the night with an Athenian win at 126.

"We wrestled really well tonight, and recorded a great team win over a solid Western Boone team," Ervin said. "I was pleased with our aggressiveness, especially on top. We did a nice job staying off of our backs and scoring pins when we got a chance. I am really proud of the kids' effort tonight."
