Alen Dean Hinds

Alen Dean Hinds, 72, of Waynetown, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021 at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette after a short battle with COVID.

He was born in Indianapolis on Nov. 23, 1948 to Robert Dean and Marguerite Lee (Parish) Hinds.

Mr. Hinds graduated from Arlington High School in Indianapolis. On Oct. 17, 1982 he married the love of his life, Debra Polley, who survives. He was a mechanic for many years and then retired from Raybestos after 16 years. He was a simple man that enjoyed staying on the farm and enjoyed gardening, fishing and working on the farm.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Debra of Waynetown; his mother, Marguerite Hinds of Indianapolis; a son, Robert Allen Hinds of Brownsburg; a special nephew, Stephen McKnight of Thorntown, whom Mr. Hinds raised; two sisters, Kay Hinds and Mary (John Stoughton) Hinds, both of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hinds; a daughter, Megan McCallister Hinds; and a grandson, Devic Carter Addler.

Visitation will be at Sanders Shoemaker Funeral Care, 202 Bratton Road in Waynetown on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. till the time of the funeral service at 4:30 p.m., with Pastor Dorman Winger officiating.
