Reta White

Reta White, 80, of Darlington, passed away Tuesday at University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born July 1, 1941 in Barren County, Kentucky at Bear Wallow, she was the daughter of Bentford Kent Patton and M. Louise Bruton Patton. 

Mrs. White kept a meticulous house. She was a homemaker and also cleaned for other people. She married Frederick M. “Fred” White on Aug. 23, 1959.  He passed away Nov. 25, 2018. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church and more recently was attending Rock Point. Mrs. White liked to frequent the Dari-Licious for Diet Vanilla Cokes. She enjoyed cardinals, hummingbirds and red Christmas trucks.  She graduated from Darlington High School in 1959.  Most importantly, Mrs. White loved her grandkids and kept photo albums of each of them.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce White of Linden and Mark (Priscilla) White of Darlington; two brothers, David Patton and Donnie (Anita) Patton; sister, Kathy (Aaron) Sewell; seven grandchildren, Brenden, Anthony, Caitlyn, Crystal, Holly, Caleb and Faith; five great-grandkids, Teagan, Faye, Liam, Adeline and Bennett, with two more due before the end of the year; and her close friend, Judy Wilcox.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Noreen White; and close friend, Mary K. Cox.

In keeping with her wishes, there will not be a public visitation. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at Oak Hill Cemetery North, led by Pastor Brian Saunders. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
