Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power Announces Upcoming Retirement Of Manager Phillip Goode

Phillip R. Goode, the Manager of Crawfordsville Electric Light and Power, has announced his retirement effective January 6, 2023. Phil has been with CEL&P for 45 years as a Certified Electric Lineman, Line Superintendent, and Manager.

Phil joined CEL&P in 1977 as an Apprentice Lineman. He was named Line Superintendent in 2007 and Manager in 2010. He is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, received his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan, served as past President of the Indiana Municipal Electrical Association, and past Chairman of the Indiana Municipal Power Agency. The American Public Power Association has recognized Phil with the Honor Roll Award for 40 years of service in Public Power. Phil has been married to Karen for 40 years and they have two children, Kyle (Marie) and Kelli, as well as three grandchildren, Sophia, Sully, and Waylon.

Phil states, “Working for CEL&P has been a great opportunity for me and my family. I have worked with many great leaders and mentors over the years. While I will miss the people and CEL&P, it is time to move on to a new chapter in my life. CEL&P will always be a big part of my life and I wish everyone success in the future.”

Utility Service Board President Don Swearingen said, “For the last twelve years, Phil has played an instrumental role in the success of Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power. The Utility Service Board admires his leadership, and his attributes are well known nationwide in the Public Power Community and Electric Utility Industry. We are fortunate to have him here in Crawfordsville and wish him well on his retirement.”

CEL&P’s Utility Service Board will begin the search for the company’s next Manager.
