John Alan Kiger

Sept. 18, 1962 – Aug. 30, 2022

John Alan Kiger, of rural Crawfordsville passed away unexpectedly at home.  He was 59.

Born Sept. 18, 1962 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Marion Kiger and Carole Ingram Whitaker. 

He and Linda Kiger were married on Aug. 11, 1989.  She passed away June 26, 2005.

He was a graduate of North Montgomery High School and Ivy Tech Community College. He was a paint and body specialist for many years, retiring from that job and going to work at Raybestos in Crawfordsville.  He served his country in the Naval Air as a mechanic where he spent time in Japan. For several years he restored antique farm tractors.

Survivors include his son, Kyle Kiger; sister, Belinda Kiger; step-mother, Rosemary Kiger; step-father, Frank Whitaker; nephew, Cary Brock; and niece, Amy Shirar Malelo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Kiger, mother, Carole Ingram Whitaker and a sister, Debbie Griffin.

There will not be a public visitation or service.  There will be a graveside ceremony for family and friends at the Linden Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of John Alan Kiger can be made to, Through the Gate, 811 Whitlock Avenue, Crawfordsville, IN 47933 or throughthegate.org
