Train Fatally Strikes Man on Tracks in Crawfordsville

A man was killed on Monday when he was struck by a train travelling through Crawfordsville.

Around 4:30 p.m., 57-year-old Portage, Ind. native Christopher Albright was walking on the tracks in the area of the Crawfordsville Amtrak Station. At the same time, a CSX cargo train coming northbound along the tracks sounded its horn when the driver and engineer saw Albright ahead of them.

Tragically, the train struck Mr. Albright. CPD officers and CFD paramedics located him and transported him to Franciscan Health, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The accident is being investigated by CPD, CSX Police and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office with assistance from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and CFD. For any inquires or for anyone who has information, contact CPD Detective Mills at (765) 362-3762 ext. 225.
