Summer Reading At CDPL

Join us for Crawfordsville District Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, beginning May 30th for all ages—children, teens, and adults.

Children can register for the youth summer reading program, “Sweet Reads,” and track their reading from May 30th to July 11th. Registration begins May 30th at the library’s Youth Service Desk. When children register, they will be given a chart with pictures of treats to check off as they read, earning a fun plastic brag tag for each box. Once all reading is completed and ten brag tags are earned, the elementary children will earn a t-shirt and a book to keep, and preschoolers will earn a book bag and a book to keep.

There will be activities, crafts, and contests for children at the library through the summer. Every day children may find the bubble gum machine and enter a weekly drawing to win a small prize. There will be picture searches up for children to find pictures of sweet treats, and a new drop-in craft every week.

We have story times for multiple ages each week. Story times for babies are on Tuesdays at 9:30 am, for toddlers on Wednesdays at 10 am, and for preschoolers on Thursdays at 10 am. No registration is required for these. Just drop-in and join us!

We have activities for elementary students on Tuesdays at 4 pm. Registration is required for these activities so we can have enough supplies for everyone on the list. Call 362-2242, Ext. 2 to sign up.

We have activities for tweens, ages 11-14, every other Thursday at 4 pm. Registration is also required for this so we can have enough supplies for all coming. Call 362-2242, Ext. 2 to sign up.

Teens have their own “Sweet Reads” reading program. They can sign up at the Youth Services desk at the library. They will keep track of time spent reading from May 30th to July 11th and fill out tickets to earn prizes and enter into weekly and grand prize drawings.

Adults can complete their “All Together Now” reading challenge online by going to cdpl.beanstack.com or downloading the free Beanstack app on any smart device. If you prefer paper, stop by the second floor reference desk to pick up a summer reading challenge brochure. Challenge yourself to read at least an hour every week from May 30th to July 11th, plus complete an activity challenge to enter into our weekly and grand prize drawings.

We also have several events for adults happening throughout the summer. Visit our website at www.cdpl.lib.in.us to see the events calendar and register for upcoming programs.

Thank you to the Friends of the Library and our community sponsors for supporting our programs. We can do so much more with their generosity. We hope to see you this summer at the library!
