Michael D. Springer

Michael D. Springer, 71, passed away on August 30, 2023 at Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis with family at his side. He was born on August 20, 1952 to Norris and Leona (Moore) Springer in Crawfordsville. Michael married Mary Bounnell on October 31, 1981 in Lafayette.

He was a graduate of Waynetown High School, Class of 1970. Michael was a United States Air Force Veteran from 1971-1977, serving stateside. While in the Air Force, he played with the travel baseball team. Michael enjoyed playing the guitar and golfing. He also loved spending time with the family playing dominoes, grilling at cookouts and attending his grandchildren’s soccer games.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary; 4 children, Jason Springer of Oklahoma, Chris Springer, Candace Springer and Stephanie Springer, all of Indianapolis; 2 grandchildren, Jaylen and London; 2 brothers, Sonny Springer of Crawfordsville and Phillip Springer of West Lafayette; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Joyce Potenza and Jeffrey Springer and a sister-in-law, Rhonda Springer.

Cremation was chosen with Sanders Shoemaker Funeral Care entrusted with arrangements. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 9th, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and the American Legion, Post 72.
