Input Needed for Local Transportation

Local residents are invited to participate in a community input meeting on the development of public transportation in Crawfordsville and Montgomery County.  The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday on the third floor at Fusion 54 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting is part of an ongoing needs assessment in partnership with Sunshine Van and public transportation planning consultant RLS & Associates. It is being led by the city, county and League of Women Voters.

The goal is to determine best answers for public transportation in the city and county. Recognizing that the lack of public transportation is a barrier for some residents. The assessment being done then aims to identify service gaps, evaluate actual demand and develop recommendations for a potential public transit program in the city and county.

The project will conclude in the summer with implementation planned for 2026.

The community input meeting will be facilitated by RLS & Associates, which will provide an overview of public transit options in small cities and rural areas. Residents and stakeholders will have the opportunity to share their needs, concerns, and ideas to help shape the future of public transportation in the area.

As part of this collaborative effort, an online public survey is available for residents to provide input. To participate, visit surveymonkey.com/r/Montgomery_Co_Transportation. A Spanish version of the survey is available at surveymonkey.com/r/Encuesta_transporte_MontgomeryCo.
