Felipe Martinez Sarate
May 1, 1953 – July 27, 2025
Felipe Martinez Sarate, age 72, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 5:12 a.m. He was in his home that he shared with his wife Rebecca. He was cared for during his illness by his wife and visits from St. Francis Hospice.
Felipe was born May 1, 1953 to Isabel Zarate Sanchez and Florentino Martinez Hernandez. He had 11 siblings and is survived by two brothers in Caranza, Vera Cruz, Mexico and one sister – Rodrigo Martinez, Torino Martinez and Chebella Landero. He has one son Ivan, who resides in Dallas, Texas.
He is survived by a stepson, Seth Graham; a stepdaughter Gretchen Clore; and five grandchildren he shared with Rebecca, Jaydelin Rutledge of Arcadia, Zoey Scott of Salem, Ore., Declan Lightfoot of Los Angeles, and Cole and Kinley Clore of Zionsville. He is survived by his wife Rebecca of 17 years. They were married on Oct. 8, 2007 in a civil ceremony and had a beautiful church wedding on Dec. 29, 2007.
Felipe belonged to the Spanish Pentecostal Iglesia. He also attended Garfield Apostolic Pentecostal Church.
Felipe was an accountant payroll employee of Pemex Oil in Mexico. He was employed by Hatchett Books in Lebanon for 13 years in the states.
His heart was devoted to serving God and being a witness to others. God and family were his life. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife, listening to Marcos Witt music and working word search puzzles. He also attended church conventions with his wife Rebecca and with Pastor Clarence Lee and Veda Lee in Louisville, Ky. He and Rebecca, Zoey and a church friend Ed traveled to Lancaster, Penn. to study in a three-day seminar on Revelations with Pastor John Hagee as instructors. He and his wife traveled to Mexico for three and a half months in 2009, Felipe witnessing for God.
Felipe loved God and loved people. He and Rebecca shared an amazing 17 years together. He was also an avid baseball fan and his favorite team was the New York Yankees. He and Rebecca enjoyed watching the baseball games together.
Cremation was chosen. There will be no calling at this time. A Remembrance Service will occur at a later date.
