Globally Celebrated Pro Motocross Championship Returns to C’ville
Tucked away amidst a sea of trees, sitting just a stone’s throw from Crawfordsville High School, lies a hidden giant of a racetrack, Montgomery County’s dynamic Ironman Raceway. This sprawling landscape has become the newest addition to an iconic lineage of racing venues in the greater Indianapolis area, hosting a round of the globally prestigious Pro Motocross Championship for more than a decade. This year’s 12th running of the Tucker Freight Lines Ironman National will turn Ironman Raceway, and the city of Crawfordsville, into the epicenter of the motocross universe on Saturday, as the fastest, most uniquely skilled athletes on the planet engage in a battle for victory as part of the summer-long quest to crown champions.
What makes Ironman Raceway so unique isn’t just its size and scenic surroundings, which includes its own landmark covered bridge, it’s the extreme landscape of the track itself. The topographic marvel features dramatic elevation changes and an undulating terrain filled with natural obstacles, despite being surrounded by the vast expanse of the midwest’s flat plains. As a result, Ironman Raceway has quickly established itself as one of the world’s premier motocross venues with an exceptional track design that provides captivating action along with incredible sight lines for spectators. It’s a one-of-a-kind motorsports amphitheater in the heart of the U.S., joining other Indy icons like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Indianapolis Raceway Park.
