CEL&P Celebrates 135 Years of Continuous Service

The Crawfordsville | Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce was pleased to host a popper celebration for Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power. This year marks a monumental milestone for CEL&P, as it celebrates 135 years of continuous service.

Since its establishment in 1890, CEL&P has been an integral part of the Crawfordsville community. Throughout its 135 years of service, the utility has grown alongside the city, continually adapting to the changing energy landscape while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction and environmental responsibility.

“For 135 years, Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power has been proud to power this community — not just with energy, but with commitment, innovation and care,” CEL&P General Manager, Allison Huenemann, said. “This milestone is a testament to the trust our customers place in us, the dedication of our team and the strong partnerships we’ve built with residents, businesses and city leaders. As we celebrate this incredible legacy, we remain focused on delivering safe and reliable power that will continue to support and strengthen Crawfordsville for generations to come.”

CEL&P has hosted a series of anniversary events throughout the year, aimed at giving back to the community and engaging with residents.
