State Rep. Baird Commends ICE Bust

State Rep. Beau Baird (R-Greencastle) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested illegal aliens in Putnam County for smuggling more than 300 pounds of cocaine in a semi-truck.

“This operation is a critical reminder of the ongoing efforts to keep our communities safe from drug trafficking by criminal illegal aliens,” Baird said in a statement. “The seizure of more than 300 pounds of cocaine demonstrates the hard work and dedication of Putnam County law enforcement, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. I will continue to support law enforcement’s efforts to protect our district and hold criminal illegal aliens accountable.”

Baird previously supported the launch of DHS’s Worst of the Worst website and last year joined colleagues in a meeting with national security experts Tom Homan and Chad Wolf for a briefing about ways the state can partner with the federal government to enforce our immigration laws.

Baird represents House District 44, which includes all of Putnam County and a portion of Montgomery County.
