3 From County Attend Conference

Montgomery County Auditor Mindy Byers, Chief Deputy Auditor Jennifer Andel and County Manager Tom Klein were among 350 county officials who attended the Association of Indiana Counties’ 2026 County Legislative Conference.

Attendees met with state legislators during the two-day event to discuss key concerns impacting local governments. Held at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis earlier this month, the conference featured briefings from AIC staff on proposed legislation in the Indiana General Assembly and how those measures could impact counties.

Gov. Mike Braun came by as well as Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith, State Treasurer Daniel Elliott, State Comptroller Elise Nieshalla and Attorney General Todd Rokita. There was also a presentation from Dr. Larry DeBoer with Policy Analytics. Others in attendance included Jason Cockerill, Commissioner of the Department of Local Government Finance and Paul Joyce, State Examiner for the State Board of Accounts.
